Business Analyst, position no. nws-ba003

BUSINESS ANALYST (all levels): Reviews, analyzes and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a manager. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Requires BS/BA in appropriate field (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of experience. Higher-level business analysts may require prior experience of 6+ years.

Additional requirements for higher-level Business Analyst positions may include:

• Writing detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs
• A familiarity with relational database concepts and client-server concepts
• Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Working under general supervision
• Demonstrating a certain degree of creativity and latitude
• Performing a variety of complicated tasks
• Leading and directing the work of others
