Configuration Management Specialist, position no. nws-cms005

CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (all levels): Analyzes or assists with analyses of changes of product design to determine the effect on the end product design and function, and determines and prepares documentation necessary for change. Coordinates with customers and manufacturers to determine a process for change reporting. Reviews released engineering change data and changes documenting activities to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision and guidance. BS/BA degree (or equivalent) plus 0-2 years of experience in related field. Higher-level configuration management specialists may require prior experience of up to 6+ years.

Additional requirements for higher-level Configuration Management Specialist positions may include:

• An increased familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field
• Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Working under general supervision
• Performing a variety of complicated tasks
• Meeting the expectations of a wide degree of creativity and latitude
