ENGINEER (all levels): Designs or assists with the design, development, implementation and analysis of technical products and systems. Performs engineering design evaluations. May develop a range of products. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision and guidance. BS/BA degree (or equivalent) in a related area as well as 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Higher-level engineer positions may require as much as 10 years prior experience as well as license and certification.

Additional requirements for higher-level Engineer positions may include:

• Familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field
• Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Working under general supervision
• Being responsible for all internal activities and product development
• Directing and leading the work of others
• Providing expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems
• Providing expert consultation in one or more areas for the design, development, analysis and implementation of technical products and systems
• Being recognized as technical leader and resource
