ENTERPRISE SYSTEM ARCHITECT (all levels): Designs or assists with designing architecture for an organization on an enterprise level. Defines or helps defines system and application architecture and provides vision, problem anticipation, and problem solving ability to organization. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision and guidance. BS/BA degree (or equivalent) plus 0-2 years of experience in related field. Higher-level enterprise architect positions may require as many as 10 years prior experience, in addition to license and certification, and an advanced degree.

Additional requirements for higher-level Enterprise System Architect positions may include:

  • Increased familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field
  • Relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
  • Working under general supervision
  • Meeting the expectations of a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Leading and directing the work of others
  • Being recognized as technical leader and resource
