Outreach and Education Specialist, position no. nws-oes019

OUTREACH AND EDUCATION SPECIALIST (all levels): Develops or assists with the development and coordination of programs designed to promote the organization and its services, and to educate the community and the target population. Creates and distributes educational materials and publications for the community and may be responsible for conducting staff training sessions. Promotes activities and services through various forms of media. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. A high degree of creativity and latitude is required. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under immediate supervision. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. BS/BA degree (or equivalent) in a related area as well as 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Higher-level outreach and education specialist positions may require as many as 6+ years prior experience.

Additional requirements for higher-level Outreach and Education Specialist positions may include:

• Relying on increased levels of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Leading and directing the work of others
• Working under general supervision
