2011 GovStar Award Finalist

INNOVIM has been named a finalist in the second annual GovStar Awards, a program by SmartCEO magazine and Sheppard Mullin. The GovStar Awards recognize Greater Washington-area government contractors who lead the way by exceeding the extremely high expectations in this complex and competitive sector of business. INNOVIM is being recognized in the category of Technical Trailblazer.

From the Oct. 2011 Washington SmartCEO magazine:

"...INNOVIM's core competencies are information technology, science support and engineering, with a focus on providing strategic technology, software and system development, information and data systems maintenance to the earth science and aerospace industry.

"BLAIZING A TRAIL: INNOVIM developed a web-based decision support environment, the Invasive Species Forecasting System (ISFS) that applies state-of-the-art IT to the problem of invasive species decision support. The system employs geo-statistical algorithms and tailored NASA and commercial data to produce predictive models from which on-demand assessments are generated.

"MAKING AN IMPACT: Invasive species pose a formidable threat in the 21st century, costing an estimated $120 billion to the American economy alone. INNOVIM's ISFS product and capabilities enable the user to identify and assess invasion and spread of invasive species and make faster and more informed decisions on management and mitigation strategies.

"NOTED APPLICATIONS: In 2005, the USGS used ISFS to produce a continental U.S. habitat suitability map of the invasive tamarisk. In addition, national parks and monuments are using ISFS to better inform their land managers and coordinate their conservation and rehabilitation efforts of natural, recreational and culturally significant areas. Furthermore, research is discovering how ISFS can assist with wildfire prevention and invasive species spread."
