Innovim's policy is consistent with section 508 of the
U.S. Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794d). Section
508 requires that when Federal agencies develop, procure, maintain, or
use electronic and information technology (E&IT), they provide Federal
employees with disabilities access to and use of information and data
that is comparable to the access and use by Federal employees who are
not individuals with disabilities. Moreover, under the act, the federal
government is also obligated to provide access to information and data
to members of the public with disabilities that is comparable to the
access provided to the public without disabilities.
In both cases listed above, the act notes an exception where an undue
burden would be imposed on the agency. Undue burden is simply defined
as significant difficulty or expense. In determining whether or not an
undue burden would result in a section 508 circumstance, the agency must
consider all possible resources available to the program or project.
Innovim understands the importance of Section 508 intent and
requirements. Our policy is to remain committed to doing our part
to help customers meet current and future accessibility requirements
for disabled E&IT users. Innovim works with all of its customers to
meet all applicable standards, and will ensure that all products and
services under the company's control are adequately 508 compliant. As
accessibility requirements, standards, and methodologies evolve, Innovim
will be available to assist with any requested human or automated method
of accessibility testing.
